10 snapshots of summer to inspire you to see the world

Lounging poolside with a book, touring a new city, taking in the sights and spending warm evenings sampling local cuisine – sounds a lot like summer. Our students from around the world have been spending their summer months learning a language and discovering life in and around our global campuses.

Take a look at some of our favorite moments from this summer (so far) and lean into the wanderlust that may start to creep in and inspire you to see just a little more of the world.

1. Barcelona

Let’s be honest, as far as iconic backdrops go, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is pretty far up on the list. Whether you fancy a trip exploring the bustling and varied quarters of a beautiful city or you want to spend evenings soaking up the sun on the beach, Barcelona has it all. What’s more, it’s pretty tough to get bored of the delicious fare on offer!

2. London

If the London Eye is even slightly nearby, it is, of course, compulsory to snap at least a few pics in front of it. If you have yet to explore England’s capital, prepare yourself for shopping galore, quirky coffee shops and bars and a whole host of trendy restaurants to boot. Notting Hill’s iconic colorful doors also make for a great snapshot and – if you’re more of a foodie – there’s endless delicacies to discover in Borough Market.

3. Nice

What better way to take in the beautiful views of the French Riviera than while parasailing in Nice? This city (and photo!) really epitomizes that summer feeling, with azure blue waters and long, scenic stretches of the beach. You’d be hard pressed to take a bad pic around here – grab your friends, arrange them in front of pretty much any background and, chances are, you’ve got blue skies, sandy beaches or art deco style architecture to set the scene.

4. San Diego

One of the best parts of going abroad to study is meeting new friends from around the world and being able to graduate from your studies side by side. Of course, having the Californian sun beaming overhead doesn’t hurt either. Heading down to the beach to catch the surf after class? Sounds like a pretty solid school day!

5. Santa Barbara

Lined with palm trees and Mediterranean-style buildings, every day spent in Santa Barbara feels like a vacation. The laid-back vibe paired with its beautiful beaches and scenic nature, makes it a great place to recharge and take a step back from the hustle and bustle. What’s more, it also gives you the perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy the small pleasures – like stopping to practice your English with friendly locals.

6. New York

Speaking of hustle and bustle, if an energetic city vibe is more your speed, New York is hard to beat. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, catching a game at the Yankee Stadium is an unmissable moment that will really give you a taste of that Big Apple pie – a code our students have clearly cracked!

7. Miami Beach

There’s something about a beach pic that always seems to trigger that yearning to pack up and jump on a plane. Miami is practically a beach haven, whether you’re looking to lounge, stroll, eat or work out. The city also happens to be a hub for art and design, so there’s something for everyone and plenty to discover.

8. Vancouver

Looking for a city that also offers up a hefty dose of adventure? Vancouver might just be up your street. This snap of our students white water rafting in Squamish is enough to get your pulse racing! That combined with the city’s varied food and culture scenes will set any traveler’s heart aflutter.

9. Toronto

On the topic of food, scoping out local bakeries is always a good plan – and Toronto’s French roots certainly give it a leg up when it comes to pastries. A foodie’s paradise, navigating Toronto might take some planning due to the sheer scope of what’s on offer. But if sampling all the local dishes gets too taxing, you can always take a break in one of the city’s many luscious green parks.

10. Malaga

Wandering the picturesque streets of Malaga is a moment that ought to be captured. As one of the oldest cities in the world, it’s no wonder Malaga is filled with rich history and culture. From stunning architecture to sunny beaches, it’s a summer paradise filled with friendly locals and terrific local cuisine.
