Carefully structured programs
As you develop, so does your program. One term is equal in length to an academic trimester, and you can study from a minimum of two terms. Each term builds upon the one before it so you’re always improving, whether you study for 2, 3, or 4 terms.

During your first term, the primary emphasis will be on language acquisition. You'll start immersing yourself in your chosen language through interactive lessons and Special Interest Classes (SPINs). There, you'll develop your grammar and vocabulary and start working towards proficiency in the four essential language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Explore your new home country through diverse activities, as you soak in the culture and practice your language skills beyond the classroom. Discover opportunities to join or create student clubs that align with your interests. You'll also benefit from our EF Mentorship program, guiding you to achieve personal and professional goals as well as supporting your wellbeing as you adjust to your new home.

In your second term, you'll personalize your language studies even more by choosing SPINs that match your passions and interests. Develop and apply crucial life skills including effective communication, creative and critical thinking, cultural awareness, and resilience — key elements for success in today's world.
You'll take part in student clubs like drama, sports, cooking, and film. You'll have the opportunity to interact with the local community through events, volunteer projects, and cultural exchanges. You'll forge meaningful connections and dive into local life. Build on your linguistic skills and cultural competence, and lay the groundwork for personal growth and professional development. As you connect with diverse communities and join an array of activities, you'll gain valuable experiences and insights that will enhance your CV.

Using the language proficiency and problem-solving skills you acquired in terms 1 and 2, in a group, you’ll work on a Final Project that demonstrates your abilities. It’s more than a conclusion; it’s a tangible project that will set you on the right track for your global future.
Alongside your Final Project, you’ll continue to strengthen your portfolio with practical experience. You’ll sharpen your professional skills through networking events and business cases, and continue to broaden your network through volunteering and social initiatives. Depending on your academic goals, our most popular option is the University Foundation Year, which lasts for 3 terms (approx. 9 months) and is ideal for those seeking a bachelor's degree. For postgraduate students, our pre-masters programs follow the term structure, lasting 2, 3, or 4 terms (approx. 6, 9, or 11 months), while our pre-PhD programs are 2 terms long (approx. 6 months).
Our programs' most significant benefit is that they prepare you for higher education by providing the language and academic skills essential for success.
