It has certainly been an exciting year in the United States. We are thrilled to have elected Barack Obama as our new President. All Americans are looking forward to great things from him in the next four years. EF students who were lucky enough to be in New York during this exciting time had a blast celebrating with each other and with many happy Americans in Times Square. Here at EF New York, the entire campus, students and staff alike, joined together in the newly renovated Rita Hall to watch the historic inauguration on the flat screens and in Pepsico. It was a very special time.
On a more local level, I am pleased to announce that Spring has finally officially arrived in Tarrytown! As the temperature begins to climb, we can hear more birds chirping and we can see the cherry blossoms starting to bloom on campus. It is certainly a beautiful time of year. In Manhattan, the streets are more alive than ever! After a rough winter with lots of snow, New Yorkers are eager to spend time outdoors going shopping on Fifth Avenue, picnicking in Central Park, walking over the majestic Brooklyn Bridge and much more. I am also happy to report that baseball season is almost upon us and that there will be 2 new stadiums opening this year for both the Yankees and the Mets.
There are a lot of exciting new things happening at the school as well. Depending on when you were here, you may or may not know that EF recently purchased the entire campus from Fordham University in May 2008. We have spent the past few months renovating to make the school our own. Rita Hall looks amazing! There is a lot of space now for student activities to take place and we have activities nearly every night in the new space! We have been taking advantage of spaces we were not allowed to use before. Just recently, we invited our graduating students up to the old staff cafeteria for a farewell dinner. The staff served the meals to the students before everyone was able to get up and dance the night away! We are also pleased to report that we have purchased a Wii. Our new Wii parties are great fun and we hope to get even more new games soon!
Kind regards,
EF Team New York
