When the EF students first started to arrive to our community, they brought with them a positive change and a nice atmosphere. Since then, I have been working close to the local school to help give as many exchange students as possible the opportunity to visit our part of the USA. During the last six years, our school and town have hosted 35 students from 12 different countries!
Talk, communicate and learn
To get the opportunity to meet all international students and sometimes even their families way exceeds any problems or issues that might arise during the year. If anything comes up, I talk to the host family and student to try and together reach the best solution. Communication is the key for a good year and a rewarding adventure for everyone involved!
Amazing experiences
My family and I have not only learnt more about other countries and cultures, but also a lot about ourselves by being representatives for EF. I have witnessed how my own four children have opened up to new people, traditions and values. That is exactly what the students also get to experience during their year abroad. My advice is to be open to new cultures and how other people live, and you will have a wonderful experience!
