Yesterday, today and tomorrow

How we began
EF Education was founded in Sweden in 1965. Our goal was to bridge cultural gaps and break down barriers of language and geography by promoting educational travel, intercultural exchange and language learning. We began by taking high-school age Swedish students to the South Coast of England to learn English. Over the next several years, our business has expanded to include on-line as well as traditional language schools, cultural exchange programs and educational tours.

Who we are today
EF Education is the world’s largest private educational organization. We’re a multi-national group of ten companies and non-profit organizations with over 3,000 EF staff and 22,000 teachers at work in 50 countries. To date, nearly three million people have benefited from an EF program.

Where we are headed
Today, EF is at the forefront of two of the world’s fastest growing industries; educational travel and language learning. Whether we are introducing the larger world to a student who has never traveled before, teaching English to corporate men and women, or sharing languages and cultural traditions through online learning, the goal of all programs remains the same: to offer quality learning experiences to people all over the world.
