تُسْتَخْدَم المُحَدِدات other و another للإشارة إلى الشيء المختلِف أو المُتَبَقي أو الإضافي، وهي تسبق الاسم. يتم تناول the other بشكل منفصل لأنها تُسْتَخْدَم بصورة مختلِفة قليلًا.

إذا اسْتُخْدِمَت other مع اسم جمع معدود و أحد المُحَدِدات الثلاث السابق ذكرها، يُمْكِن حذف الاسم إذا كان مفهومًا من السياق. وفي هذه الحالة تُوضَع other في صيغة الجمع. يُمْكِن أن يحدث ذلك أيضًا في حالة استخدام other بمفردها إلا أن ذلك أقل شيوعًا.

استخدام "Another"
تُسْتَخْدَم another مع الأسماء المفرد المعدودة. في حالة الأسماء غير المعدودة، غالبًا ما تُسْتَخْدَم another مع كلمات القياس التي يجب أن تأتي في صيغة المفرد.

استخدام "The Other"
