Chicago in the winter: 5 things to do when it’s freezing

Chicago exudes a cultural cool and friendly vibe that captures the spirit of the Midwest – all year round. From soaring skyscrapers to stuffed pizza to comedy clubs, a little chill in the air doesn’t stop the Windy City. Grab your scarf, put on your mittens and say hello to a winter wonderland.

1. HEAD TO THE HOMESTEAD RESTAURANT

Take in the city from above at this rooftop hangout – complete with warm cocktails, a crackling open fireplace and twinkle lights.

2. SKATE AT MILLENNIUM PARK

Go ice skating at Millennium Park’s outdoor ice skating rink – best enjoyed with snow flurries in the air. Head out a little early on Sunday for free lessons.

3. VISIT THE FIELD MUSEUM

Get lost in this iconic museum – boasting exhibitions that range from bat caves in Kenya to design for today’s modern world.

4. LAUGHT AT A COMEDY SHOW

Get your laugh on at one of the city’s most famous comedy clubs – like ComedySportz Theatre and The Lincoln Lodge.

5. CHEER AT A HOCKEY GAME

Cheer on the Chicago Blackhawks alongside locals. Be sure to grab a slice of famous stuffed pizza before the game is over.
