During your Spanish course in Costa Rica you can relax on the beach, take a surfing class, hike up volcanoes, or try to spot all 4 of the indigenous monkey species. Our school in Playa Tamarindo has been offering Spanish classes since 2005.

OUR COURSES

Our Costa Rica study abroad courses begin every Monday and run for a duration of 2 weeks to a full academic year. It’s your choice to make!

Spanish Courses in Costa Rica

(students and adults age 16 and older)
  • For students of all ages we offer general and intensive Spanish courses in Costa Rica at our intimate Playa Tamarindo school.
  • Housed in a cozy colonial-style building, our school is just minutes from the beach and the city's commercial center.
  • The Spanish language school grounds include a private garden, swimming pool, and student residence as well as air-conditioned classrooms, a cafeteria and hammocks for relaxing on the deck.
  • Host families nearby the school are an alternative to the on-site student residences.
  • Costa Rica is an ideal destination for outdoorsy students. Students can choose from a number of activities such as jungle excursions, zip lining, surfing, etc.
  • College Credits are available for students opting for a 4+ week language course.

No minimum GPA required to apply!

Here is a sneak peak of a typical day at our EF Playa Tamarindo school:

7:00 a.m.: Buenos días! Wake up in Playa Tamarindo.
7:30 a.m.: Enjoy a traditional "tico" breakfast with your host family.
8:15 a.m.: The EF shuttle will pick you up and bring you to the school.
9:00 a.m.: Spanish lessons
10:00 a.m.: Conversation Lab
12:30 p.m.: Barbecue and relax with students and staff
1:30 p.m.: Spanish lessons and special interest class (Latin American slang)
3:00 p.m.: Horseback riding & Snorkeling at Playa Conchal
6:00 p.m.: Return to host family for traditional Costa Rican dinner.
8:00 p.m.: EF Karaoke & dance at the school.
