EF started out for me as a stop-gap between my academic years while at university, but I can safely say that the decision to work with EF has been nothing short of life-changing. The mixture of cultures and personalities ensure that I am always learning and meeting great new people, and I have made many friends for life. I have worked for EF for 5 years, 4 as a local leader and 1 as a centre manager. I started on the recommendation of a friend and I've never looked back. I kept coming back because I loved the constant challenges offered by the job - whether in the form of teaching, arranging sports and activities or the everyday challenges of working with teenagers and young people who, moreover, don't speak your language! The last three years I've been involved with the Fantasy and Magic Camp which has always been incredibly fun. It's great watching English come alive for the kids through the medium of their favourite books, films and characters. For me it's been a great opportunity to expand my creativity and enjoy a range of new experiences, including playing quidditch!

Ashley Sharif

Activity Organiser, Brighton Homestay 2009
This is without a doubt the most dynamic, challenging and enjoyable job I’ve ever had. The variety of people you work with and activities you go on means that with every new group and new excursion comes a new set of experiences. Working with groups of students is a two way learning process which involves both students and leader. It has been extremely rewarding to teach students about the UK while simultaneously learning about their own respective countries and cultures. Working with EF, I have made some great friends, gained some invaluable skills and have had a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to next season already.

I enjoy working with people from all over the world; the friendships that develop during a summer are unique. The satisfaction when the students return home and have had the time of their lives is spectacular, and to be a part of that is great! One of the biggest challenges is that you never really know what to expect and need to be prepared for every eventuality. But that is also one of the best parts of the job! I have gained so much experience; in running a team, in planning and organisation and learning to work under pressure. I would find it hard to believe that you could achieve so much in any other job. EF also offers great career progression, I started out as a Course Leader and I now work in Head office in London. Go for it! You'll work hard but you will have the time of your life while you're doing it!
