EF has developed the EF Global English Challenge to enable teachers to test the English level of their students and see how it ranks with other classes in their country, as well as around the world.
The test questions cover:
- Listening (10 questions)
- Vocabulary & Grammar (50 questions)
- Reading (10 questions)
There is no need for students to prepare in any particular way. The test should be completed in a maximum of 60 minutes and must be taken without any use of aids such as a dictionary.
You will receive via e-mail the results of every student who takes the test in your class. Each student's score will be calculated in % of questions answered correctly and will correlate to language skill levels of the Common European Framework. All students will get a certificate with their score.
As soon as a minimum of 15 students have taken the test, you will get a class ranking based on your class's average test score. If more than 15 students complete the test, we will only average the 15 top-scoring students. Your class results will only appear on our website if they make a top-10 ranking.
The EF Global English Challenge Test is based on over 45 years of experience in English language teaching. Founded in 1965, EF Education First is the world’s largest privately held education company, specializing in language training, educational travel, academic degrees, and cultural exchange. EF operates 400 language schools and offices in more than 50 countries. At EF language schools, students learn using course materials designed and published by EF's Academic Development Team comprised of researchers, teachers and linguists. This combination of decades of English teaching expertise and worldwide reach makes EF uniquely qualified to publish a comparative index of English proficiency.
Due to the high interest in taking part in the EF Global English Challenge test, we have extended the deadline to January 31st 2012.
